Well done to everyone, housepoints galore! There were loads of orders, oodles of work, plenty of deliveries and, what matters most, lots of happy schools. There is only one thing left to do - send out the invoices. It's the bit nobody likes I can assure you, apart from the taxman I suppose. This year we are emailing all the invoices to cut down on paper, postage and the like. Last year we did a trial and it worked out well so this year we'r...Deadline Dayhttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=c9cacec72bca69c89ae482218b8b148aTue, 4 Nov 2008 15:15:29 +0100Hello there It's a busy week isn't it. We've got the US Election. Bonfire Night. My Nan's birthday. And then it's deadline day on Friday 7 November for Initiatives' Autumn 2008 campaign. So, if any of you are still to send your Master Order Forms there is no time to delay. Fundwizard is by far the quickest way to post your order - click here and weave your magic It must be said that it has been a very difficult time for fundraisers given the current economical climate and the affect that h...Great start!http://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=4113cdc67f24e459d7b60a5f907bf0beFri, 3 Oct 2008 16:50:40 +0200The Autumn 2008 campaign has got off to a great start and the orders are now rolling in steadily, indeed Fund Wizard has been very busy! The best order we've received so far is just over £1,500 (£450 net profit for the school!) but it's early days yet. They had a great strategy by the way: once they'd received all the pupil's orders they decided to pay a visit to some of the local businesses and offices, helping them to rake in quite a few more substantial orders. Hats off to them!...Sensational Gardeninghttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=b3a8f24958f4baea0124908e10880a9fThu, 25 Sep 2008 15:47:02 +0200It's possible that with all the money you made with the Initiatives campaign you're now wondering how to spend it all. Well, if school gardening is high on your agenda you could do a lot worse than taking a look at Greenhouse Sensation's website. They're a great bunch of people, extremely helpful and so knowledgeable too. What's more, they even offer reductions to schools! ...National Chocolate Weekhttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=4664805918543634b652c5b9beb69540Thu, 18 Sep 2008 16:41:17 +0200Good news for anyone wanting an excuse to eat chocolate - it's National Chocolate Week on 13th - 19th October 2008. And you may find that it inspires you to sell more chocs, helping your fundraising campaign. Take a look at the website to find out more about good quality chocolate, the history of the cocoa bean and much more. We're betting on a bigger, better and more successful fundraiser than ever before especially with the wider range of products on offer - not least the offer of our Christmas chocolates. If you have not yet requested your free fundraising pack why not take a look at our catalogue, which you can easily browse online. I'm sure you'll like what you see. And for all those schools wh...It's here!!!!http://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=d5bb5fabe4f7ade9d7df4f3696173f1cThu, 17 Jul 2008 09:12:09 +0200The Autumn 2008 catalogue is now online! Go take a look at everything on offer this year, from bulbs, chocolates, bird houses... And yes chocolate is the new initiative at Initiatives. We wanted something new to introduce to the catalogue and after some reflection we decided upon the brown stuff. It's been a real chore having to do all the taste testing but we persevered in the name of fundraising - hopefully you'll love the selection on offer. We have had the marvellous opportunity...2008 Cataloguehttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=998e0d1425854d8a10a55c281165fec5Tue, 1 Jul 2008 10:16:02 +0200The new catalogue for Autumn 2008 will be available soon, very soon, so please keep a look out - you won't be disappointed! ...Magical Bulbshttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=665408903c5f03c5ea8d46ab6730c017Fri, 27 Jun 2008 11:16:43 +0200Bulbs are back in fashion! Why? Because they're so easy to grow and there are so many wonderful varieties to choose from. And once they're planted only a tiny amount of care ensures you'll have beautiful flowers in spring for at least the next few years and sometimes evermore. Take a look at this advice from the BBC and see how easy it is. ...RHS School Gardening campaignhttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=d242623e9234ebb581cb978a4dca4e01Fri, 21 Mar 2008 10:26:37 +0100The gurus of gardening, the Maharishi of horticulture, in other words, the Royal Horticultural Society (did you think I was talking about us?!) have a wonderful website for all those passionate about getting their fingernails dirty and now they have created a brilliant site aimed solely at schools. It's really worth taking a look. We spent the best part of a morning 'strolling' through the virtual garden, picking up loads of handy tips along the way. We particularly like Henri and his Eco Zo...Initiativeshttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=0398e5e9cd23c68cf75c94a5b6708625Wed, 19 Mar 2008 10:27:29 +0100You may notice we have had a slight change of name. We've decided to drop the 'The' and the 'Garden' so as to be known, from now on and forever more, simply as 'Initiatives'. For one, it's exactly 1.66 times faster now to write our web address - which, in such a frenetic world as our own, is almost important. More pertinently, however, we felt it was necessary to enable us to introduce more products to our range in the near future, a few more strings to our bow if you like. So watch this...Knowledge Centrehttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=49fb69d3d9dd3bcc17e6d96c9182a2ebWed, 12 Mar 2008 12:01:15 +0100For anyone mulling over whether to create a school garden the task may seem a little daunting. You've got to think about space, time, the support you have available - not to mention budget restrictions. And then there's the small issue of knowledge. It'd be enough to put you off, were it not for the joy it'll bring to the children who'll help you along the way. Worry ye not my garden comrades; there are loads of resources out there to make your life easier. Have a chat with your local garden ...Fairtrade Fortnighthttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=748ac646f4faa63210c2bf03fe1e7f0eTue, 26 Feb 2008 11:36:11 +0100Fairtrade in our opinion can only be seen as a good thing. After-all, what kind of meany wants unfair trade? So we are particularly interested by the Fairtrade Fortnight which is going on at the moment. It's a fantastic initiative to educate kids in this country about how children in poorer parts of the world have such different lives to them and how with a little fair trade we can help improve their quality of life. The TGI shed has indeed been the witness to a fair bit of head-scratching, some chin stroking, a lot of brain storming (a painful task that requires gallons of coffee), some thinking out the box, in the box, without a box at all, and ju...It's all over (for Autumn 2007)http://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=9a278c0ad102266ba50c544fd4cdd42aWed, 21 Nov 2007 14:09:24 +0100The Autumn 2007 campaign is now all but over, which unfortunately means we won't be able to accept any more of your orders. All the bulbs have pretty much gone leaving me with just a few to plant in the TGI garden. It has been a fabulous campaign across the country. Lots of schools have taken part, raising buckets of money along the way for their forth coming projects - more news of which to follow... Thank you to everyone who has taken part; as usual it has been an absolute pleasure to wo...Fund Wizardhttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=236289658fba241ade42c4b5201ac6c2Mon, 24 Sep 2007 10:45:24 +0200We have had lots of positive feedback about the Fund Wizard so far. People seem to be finding it really simple to use and from what I can tell it's taking them little time too. So hats off to them and also to our clever IT fellows - they will be smug I mean happy! ...Timing your ordershttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=fad9ef5c2819b3b3f87c791bfad566baTue, 18 Sep 2007 12:03:58 +0200When should you get your Master Order Forms back to us? It seems to be a popular question at the moment and makes me think that maybe we've not been clear enough in the advice booklet. So apologies for that. The official answer is: 'the first week of November' but what we'd really like to say is 'the sooner the better'. We always have to take Mother Nature into account afterall and it has become very difficult, with our crazy weather these days, to predict just when the ground will begin fr...Attention!http://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=ad95605132bd6281b8937ecf7129f9a5Mon, 17 Sep 2007 11:11:52 +0200The Autumn 2007 campaign has now well and truly reached saturation point, in other words, it has been so popular that we've run out of catalogues! So, unfortunately, we won't be able to accept any more requests for the Fundraising Pack. Sorry. To those of you who didn't manage to request one in time I hope you'll be considering to go ahead with the next campaign instead - Spring 2008. You can even pre-order your free Fundraising Pack now, click here. Keep an eye-out for further details! ...School Gardenshttp://v2.initiatives.fr/ukf/modules/blog/newsManager/newsManager.php?idNews=0eacfa4edf1cb92667353c57f0718d12Mon, 17 Sep 2007 11:11:03 +0200Since we began doing this, we've been enormously encouraged to hear how an ever increasing number of schools plough the funds they make from the TGI fundraiser straight back into their school gardens and gardening clubs. School gardens, so we've learnt, come in all shapes and sizes - not to mention guises - from beautifully manicured to overlooked and wild. Whether they are used to grow vegetables and fruit, to attract wildlife or they're just there to make an otherwise lifeless corner p...
